The Weaver Bride Book Review

The Weaver Bride by Lydia Gregovic Review @_lydiagregovic_
Rating 5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rapunzel & Rumplestilskin meets the Bachelor 🧵🥀🪡

Insecure Men Will Literally Steal Hair to Uphold The Patriarchy 😭😭 This book had me shook and biting my teeth in suspense. I would LOVE to see a prequel featuring Ophelia’s POV. 🎀

Lydia Gregovic weaves an enchanting tale with an elegant and alluring writing style. With secrets revealed in every chapter and an eerie aesthetic that leaves you wanting to solve all the hidden secrets in Fortblance Castle. This novel is set to release Sept. 30th.

Lovett Tamerlane is a silkwitch– a woman highly favored for her enchanted hair that can be weaved into magesilk. Each strand of hair is a currency of magic. All silkwitches are required to wed a Weaver or be taken to the cloisters–never to be seen again.

Lovett is a survivor and she finds herself living on the run as a witch, picking pockets and practicing the art of deceit wherever she can.

Until she meets Eliot Lear, who recruits her to solve his sister Ophelia’s death at the Alaire mansion. 🥀 The Alaire family hosts a bachelor-esque competition called Vainglory for all the silkwitches of Balmoore to have the chance at being betrothed to Noe Alaire.

Can Lovett pass as a contestant while still trying to solve Ophelia’s death? Will another witch discover her? With many skilled silkwitches lurking in the halls AND mirrors of Fortblanche the stakes are high. Can Eliot Lear be trusted or will he steal Lovett’s heart in vain?

The book was written elegantly and kept me curious till the end. This novel has expanded my vocabulary and is perfect for annotating girlies with its metaphors.

Honestly? I’d consider this book also under the genre of suspense because I was REELING trying to solve these riddles. The eerie vibes and the love triangle turned to arranged marriage for revenge to take down misogynist men?? Now that’s a tale that will have you hooked! I really hope Lovett clues Eliot in on her plan for revenge to take down the Alaire family. Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Random House for access to this ARC!
